Why Itachi killed the Uchiha Clan

I saw these theories on YouTube. It's not mine so do not bash me if you don't like it. Simply leave the thread.1.
Itachi was never evil, and still is not evil. The Uchiha Clan became corrupt, and was planning something. To save himself and his little brother Sasuke, he was forced to completely annhialate his clan. He wanted Sasuke to hate him so Sasuke could go stronger and mature, and he'd be able to tell him the truth of that day.

Itachi was planning to join Akatsuki, but Akatsuki forced him to kill the clan or they would kill him. He also had to foster Sasuke's hate so he'd grow stronger.Once again, I didn't make these. What are your opinions? If I were going to believe one of them, I'd pick one.

It's because the Uchiha were considered shit and Itachi knew that

So he killed them and ran away like a good christian Uchiha.

There has been many threads like this,just wait till the manga actually explains it.

Itachi killing his clan was a cry for help. If he had a woman that incident would have not occured.

3. The Uchiha Sharingan could suppress Biju chakra, and the akatsuki knew it. This threatened their Biju-powered war machine.
They approached Itachi, and told him of the scroll hidden below the temple of fire, the scroll that revealed the truth of the Uchiha. He learned of the evil in his blood, and then assisted his best friend in committing suicide. He was then approached by the akatsuki again, and presented the opportunity to join... on the condition he killed his entire clan. Warped by the evil inside him and his hate for his own blood, Itachi willfully murdered his family, leaving only his younger brother... the only one he felt any mercy to.
He let Sasuke live that Sasuke will kill him for his sins.

Chrono Nexus's theory sounds true, however, Itachi merely wanted to test his strength which is what he told Sasuke.

It's easier to kill someone than to beat them to a point where they can't move i can't see why itachi couldn'tthe crap out of them ,wouldn't that have  showed itachi that he was strong as well?

^Exactly. He knew how strong he was when he activated Sharingan, became a Chuunin, and an ANBU leader before 14.

A theory I posted way back when, which I still think holds validity, is that the mysterious Uchiha Madara the Kyuubi mentioned was actually a Jinchurriki for the eight-tailed snake bijuu.  When he died the snake demon was supposed to go with him, but some of its essence continued to live on in his descendants, the Uchiha Clan.  Itachi tapped into this demon chakra, causing him to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan, but it also caused his mind to be influenced by the snake demon (the quot;you have to kill your best friendquot; thing might actually be a side-effect of achieving the MS, not the cause).  The demonic chakra later overcame Itachi, causing him to kill his entire family, though he restrained himself from killing Sasuke.

Where does uchiha being derived from the Hyuuga fit in here

I think he just got bored :s

I like the first theory, but i dont think that one is true =[

My theory is it was due to his periods and that he ran out of nail polish.
