Buick Relavance: My Chevy truck on a GMC chassis is Buick powered.Does anyone know for a fact if 1979ish Corvette 15" aluminum wheels will fit a 1986 C-1500 series 2WD 5-lug GMC hub and clear everything on the disc/drum brakes? I posted this on the GM truck site and recieved no replies. Buick folks are much more knowledgeable. Thanks.
NO. They are 5x3/4" or so bolt circle, your truck (and big buicks) are 5x5 bolt circle-but they would look cool.
Rats! But thanks.
It's "Small GM bolt circle" (5 x 4.75) vs. "Big GM bolt circle" (5 x 5)
But, you can use the full size Buick wheels which have the 5" bolt circle.
I would like to see some more pictures of your truck with the Buick engine in it. When done right, that body style looks great.
? or the truck shop?
Thanks for the replys everyone. I really wanted the Corvette wheels. I am trying to put the truck on a diet, but still have a truck. I fully intend to use the thing, and the heavy trailer hitch is staying. The step and tow rear bumper may not. I love the look of the Buick rally wheels, but they are steel and I wouldn't gain anything by their installation (except a great look).Brian, I gotta get busy with the camera. I haven't taken a single photo since I put it on the road - but here are a couple of oldies. Please don't look too carefully at the engine photo or you will notice no A/C hoses from the compressor. They have now been made and installed and I have a "cool cab."
John , I have full size Buick wheels on my Silverado , C-10, and on my open car trailer . Looks and works good.
Hi Mike, I may end up with the rally wheels, but I am really trying to shed some empty weight. The aluminum wheels are an obvious way to lighten things up a bit. If I have to stay with steel wheels, I will try to find a set of the widest rally wheels that Buick ever made. 4465 lbs is just too heavy. I will get it below 4400 lbs. My fantasy is under 4300.
John , I see where you are headed , but weight reduction was not a problem for me . I was pulling a 26' gooseneck trailer with my 78 Silverado swb . Best towing trailer I have ever pulled in 40+ years of hauling cars around .

Your truck is awesome. I used to have a '79 Silverado and now regret selling it. The Nailhead sitting in your engine bay looks great. I look forward to seeing more of this truck.
I was waiting for someone to ask about the engine color.
I am sure you can get billet aluminum 'Vette rallies in the big bolt pattern. $$$ though....I've seen them up to 17"
