Bridge being imploded. Blode up real good!

This morning the Lowry Ave. bridge in Mpls. was imploded into the Mississippi river.
Originally built in 1905 and renovated in 1958.

It is (was) only a couple of miles down river from my house, so when the blast went off I could not only hear it, but felt the sound waves hit the house. All the dogs in the area including mine went nuts.

Kind of cool for Father's day. Thought I would share.

That's amazing! Was that a railroad bridge?

Cool video! Now I assume that they have to fish the pieces outta the river.

I for one like the proper use of the word "blode."  Much of my living is made by writing. Now I have a new word.

hope it didnt kill any fish. lol

I recognized the word "Blode" immediately. I think that you should copyright it. It is a perfect word.

Drove across it many, many times. I can still here the humming and clanking of the mesh grate road bed.

If any of you used to watch the show Second City Television, John Candy and Joe Flaherty used to do a farm report skit, and always ended up blowing up any guests they had.
Then they would say, he blode up! he blode up real good!

I suppose it should be blowed up, but I think blode is funnier.

I do remember the SCTV bit. I never gave the spelling of the word Blowed much thought. I like blode better!

for a little extra money they could have done it as a night shot with a fireworks extravaganza.

Dale, I occasionally deliver to a warehouse in Fridley that is just upstream from that bridge. I never did cross the Mississippi on that bridge though.

I wonder if anybody thought to scoop up some free fish downstream from the "blode" up job.

They don't recommend eating fish out of the Mississippi river even this far north. I think it is no more than 1 a week or something.
Though, you will see Hmong lining the banks fishing for carp. Which based on what fishing I did when I was younger is 90% of the population. Bullheads too.

I grew up in Fridley. I haven't strayed far from my home stomping grounds.
I've been in Columbia Heights for the past 23 years.

I lived in Minneapolis for two summers back when the world was flat and the Foshay (spl?) tower was the tallest building in the twin cities! Tempus fugit.
